Day 5

Our first activity this morning was a 2 hour bus ride to the 'Cueva de Los Franceses' which is a cave at the top of a mountain. When we arrived there was snow everywhere and it was soooo cold! The cave was amazing inside. We learned about how the cave was created, how it has changed over the years and how in 10 million years it will be a canyon. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take photos as it damages the rock and it's minerals but I'm sure we can tell you all about when we get back to school.

Next we went for lunch in a small village called Saldana. We had salad, Spanish omelet and a croquet followed by a couple of outdoor games with the Belgium and French children.

After, we travelled by coach to a Roman Villa. We had to wear our very own ear piece during the guided tour. The visit was very educational and we learned lots about the building structure and its materials such as mosaic.

After our tour, we had another coach ride back to Palencia so we could get ready for the farewell dinner! Do you like our outfits? We have had an AMAZING time in Spain and would like to say a HUGE thank you to Mrs Thompson and our mums and dads for allowing us to have this experience!

Day 4

Another amazing day in Palencia! Our first activity of the day was to visit the Mayor! He was very nice and welcomed us to the city. He even let us sit in the council chairs! He loved his England mug and keyring of behalf of Benedict Biscop Academy and said he was going to use his mug at breakfast.

Next we went to the school to play a game that the French team have made. It's called Comenius Pursuit. It was great to work together with the other children an answer questions about all the different countries!

After we had finished our game, we went for lunch at our hotel. We had spaghetti bolognese, chicken, chips and a fried egg followed by ice cream! We enjoyed sitting with the girls from Belgium.

When everyone had finished lunch, we walked back to school to play some traditional Spanish games. There were five different games set up on the yard for us to play. We played musical chairs with Spanish music, bowling with skittles, bowling with balls, frog and snatch. We also had a little game of 'dush dush' which is very similar to what we call tag.

Our last job of the day was to present our traditional board game - Beetle Drive. We went to Sylvia's classroom and delivered our presentation. We even followed the presentation up with a game of Beetle Drive with all of the children in her class.

We're off to bed now as we need lots of energy for tomorrow. A cave, a Roman villa and a disco are our activities for tomorrow!

Day 3

Thank you for the text Ms Jobling. We passed on your messages!

We have had another fantastic day today! We started the day rock climbing at an adventure centre in Palencia, followed by climbing though a cave and traveling down a zip wire! It was a bit scary and we felt nervous at first but proud by the end!

Next we had dinner with the children and made some friends from Belgium. We travelled by coach to see the El Christo which was at the top of LOTS of stairs. It was hard work getting up but definitely worth it! The statue was 23 meters high and was built around 1930. The hands are facing the town of Palencia because El Christo is blessing the people here.

We returned to school for our final activity. We had lots of fun decorating a cup cake as a lady bird but the best part was eating it!

Tonight we have been shopping for souvineers and a dominos pizza. We learnt that the three dots on the Dominos pizza logo stands for the first three stores they opened! We have been learning all day long!

Off to bed shortly as we're meeting the mayor tomorrow!

Day 2

We arrived at the school at 9.30 and were welcomed by Ed who is the HeadTeacher. All of the children had prepared a show for us. Each class had prepared a tribute to each country. The English show was the best and had lots of singers and dancers.

After the show we had a look around the school. It was enormous! After our tour of the school, we went for lunch in Palencia square and had a huge three course meal. It was lovely to sit with the French children.

After lunch, we had a guided tour around Palencia. Here are some of the sights we saw.

We saw some beatiful sights and will tell you all about it when we get home! After our tour of Palencia, we went back to school to set up our display. Our display has lots of information and photos of traditional English games. While we were there, we also got some presents from the French, Greek and Italian teachers.

We're off for another early night as we have rock climbing and cake making tomorrow!

Day 1

We met at Newcastle airport at 4:00 and our first flight was to Amsterdam. It was very bumpy due to the wind. After one hour, we landed in Amsterdam. Our next flight was to Madrid and it took 2 hours to get there. It was worth the wait as it was very sunny. Next, we had a 3 hour bus ride to Palencia. When we arrived, we checked in, found our rooms and unpacked. We've been for a little look around Palencia and found some unusual trees and a statue. We are going to have an early night as we have a busy day tomorrow!
